Savé Valley Conservancy in South Eastern Zimbabwe is the largest privately owned reserve in Africa, home to the Big Five. Created in 1991, it is comprised of 21 adjacent properties with no internal fencing, totaling 900,000 acres. Savé Safaris has a concession totaling 70,000 acres within the conservancy, operating on both Matendrer and Gunundwe ranches.
Savé Safaris has been in operation for 14 years and is run by Leon du Plessis and Mike Payne, whom between them, have over 30 years wildlife experience. We offer high quality, personalized safaris.
The Savé Safaris has a very healthy and diverse range of big game and plains game. Our area is renowned for magnificent leopard and buffalo trophies. Plains game trophies include: Zebra, Kudu, Waterbuck, Sable, Eland, Nyala, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Impala, Bushbuck, Warthog, Bush Pig, Duiker, Klipspringer and Baboon, as well as the nocturnal species.
Record quality trophies are taken annually. The varied habitat and protection of the area ensures that the animals continue to thrive. We also have a prolific game bird population, with guinea fowl, francolin and doves being the commonly hunted species. We also have a well-stocked dam with Florida Bass and Bream. the record for the dam, so far, is a 12 1/2 lb. bass, caught in August 2008.
We are also able to tailor make a safari to suit your needs. If we are unable to provide trophies required, we have extensive contacts within the region, and are able to move to different areas to give you the best opportunities for a safari of a lifetime.
Access to our concession is by light aircraft or road transfer from Harare International Airport. We are 410km by road or a 1hr flight.
While we are open year-round, our suggested hunting months are March through early November.
Our camp offers thatched chalets with bathrooms en-suite. The camps are run on 220v power supply, on a generator system. Please bring the necessary converters.
A daily laundry service is provided, so no need to bring an extensive supply of clothing. An experienced caterer and hostess with a full compliment of camp staff will see to your every need. All food and beverages are included. If you have any particular preference, please let us now, we will do our best to accommodate you.
Fully licensed Professional Hunters, trackers and skinners will guide you through a top-quality hunting experience. You will have full use of a 4×4 vehicle. We conduct field preparation of your trophies, which will be professionally handled and dispatched with minimum delay.
Not included in your package: Transfers within Zimbabwe, documentation and shipping of your trophies, hire of firearms and ammunition, observer fees, gratuities, medical expenses other than first aid. 2% government levy on daily rate and trophy fees.
